After missing last week’s episode of Xplosion, I am back with my review of the latest edition of TNA’s B show. I was looking forward to seeing what TNA had in store for its fans this week on Xplosion.

Match 1 – Crazzy Steve vs. Chris Melendez

Crazzy Steve made his way to the ring accompanied by Rosemary. There were many Decay fans in attendance and they were being acknowledged by Crazzy Steve.

I must admit, this Decay stable is really growing on me. They may be creepy but I want to see more and more of them. I suppose you can call them an acquired taste.

Next up, Chris Melendez makes his way to the ring.

For those unfamiliar with Melendez, he is a US Army Veteran who lost his leg when an improvised explosive device struck his platoon in Iraq. He wrestles with a prosthetic leg. You have to give the man an incredible amount of respect for that.

Melendez entered the ring and took off his Sarge T-shirt which was quickly taken by Crazzy Steve and he proceeded to spit on the shirt. Melendez went right after Steve and pummelled him with a barrage of punches in the corner and took the control of the match. Crazzy Steve began some offense of his own and Xplosion cut to a commercial.

I was able to hear chants of “Let’s Go Steve”. You have to admit that Decay is doing something really right if fans are chanting for creepy Crazzy Steve and not the decorated war hero with one leg.

Back from the commercial break, we see Steve nailing Melendez with forearms to the face. Steve began to dominate the match before Melendez made a short recovery and hit a nice suplex on Steve. Steve capitalized on a Melendez mistake, connected with a front face DDT and secured a victory.

This was a very enjoyable opening match for Xplosion. Dare we say that Decay may be on their way to being babyfaces?

Spin Cycle Segment

It looks like Spin Cycle isn’t going away. And for the 4th week in a row we have the same panel – Eli Drake, Mike Bennett, Maria Kanellis, Eddie Edwards, and Robbie E with Jeremy Borash serving as the host. Maybe nobody else wants to be a part of this dumb segment.

Jeremy Borash announced that this week they will be playing the Mobile Phone Olympics.

Oh good! Just want I wanted to see on a professional wrestling show.

He had them all announce which mobile phone they will be using. All of them had an iPhone 6 with the exception of Eddie Edwards who had an iPhone 5. He was labelled a “loser” by the rest of the panel because of this. Borash even made the loser symbol with his hand and held it up to his head.

I really wanted this to stop at this point. You have these talented wrestlers in a stupid segment when at least two of them could be in the ring for a match. Why not Eddie Edwards vs Eli Drake instead of Drake calling Edwards a loser for having an iPhone 5? Hell, you can even make it an iPhone on a Pole match.

Borash then started the Mobile Phone Olympics and asked them to Google who Borash’s spouse is; to pull up an online photo of Tyrus and Snoop Dog, then produce a photo of them with a celebrity.

Interestingly enough, Eli Drake showed a photo of him and The Rock. I am sure that the WWE is very thankful that a WWE star has gotten critical exposure on the Spin Cycle segment of Xplosion.

The best part of this segment was when it ended.

Match 2  – Naruki Doi vs. Volador Jr. vs. Daivari vs. Frankie Kazarian in an Ultimate X Match at Victory Road 2008

This match was the final of the World X Cup Tournament TNA held back in 2008. Naruki Doi represented Team Japan, Volador Jr represented Team Mexico, Daivari represented Team International, and Frankie Kazarian represented Team TNA. The match began with a free for all between the four combatants. At one point Daivari looked like he was going for a moonsault from the top turnbuckle only to be pushed into one of the ringside metal poles. Daivari went face first into that pole and really ate it.

All four men hit the high spots that are expected for this kind of match. There were many attempts at climbing the across the ropes above the ring to grab the X and secure victory for their respected teams. The ending of this match was nothing short of spectacular. Daivari was climbing across the ropes making his way towards the hanging X when Kazarian climbed to the top of the Ultimate X Structure, jumped off  and connected with flying legdrop onto Daivari and they both fell down to the ring. Volador Jr then climbed up the tower, climbed across the ropes, and pulled down the hanging X to get a victory for Team Mexico thus making them the winners of the 2008 World X Cup.

The World X Cup was a great concept TNA introduced back in 2004 and sadly ended in 2008. Preceded by the Super X Cup tournament, it brought wrestlers from all over the globe to the ring of TNA. I wish they would bring this tournament back as they were always very enjoyable to watch. It was great to see this blast from the past on Xplosion.

Match 3 – IMPACT Rewind: TNA Title Match between Drew Galloway vs Matt Hardy

An edited version of the Drew Galloway/Matt Hardy TNA title match from IMPACT was shown. The match was won by Drew Galloway by making Hardy tap out with the Iron Maiden submission.

This was another watchable edition of TNA Xplosion. It was nice to see Chris Melendez compete as it’s now very rare that you see him. It’s always good to see a fresh face.

The Spin Cycle segment should be regulated to the TNA website or YouTube channel. The show is called Xplosion and there is nothing “explosive” about Spin Cycle. Here I go beating the dead horse again, but put another match in the time granted to Spin Cycle. Please.

Until next time, thanks for reading!
